Be foxy – Work with me!

My Foxy Makes blog started in September 2018 as a result of encouragement following the growth of my new YouTube channel, Making It Out Of The Woods.

Last year, I asked my four year old  niece what she would like Christmas. She had so many ideas –  no surprise there, it was difficult for her to decide on any particular one- she’s four!

So, I asked her what her two most favourite things in the whole world were, she replied…

..ice cream and fancy lights.. – Ava-Leigh

With my imagination now in overdrive, it didn’t take long to come up with a wacky idea – I have lots of those – I decided I would build her a giant Wall’s FAB lolly night light! for her bedroom.

This is where my YouTube channel began. I documented the build, hoping that one day she will be able to see exactly how I made it for her. The video was the first I’d made. I’m still learning and now, a good few videos in, I really enjoy the process of film making.

Since then, Making It Out Of The Woods has given me an exciting platform to try new things, have fun and build all sorts of stuff that you can’t really buy.

YouTube is a fantastic way to share my creations, but it can only tell part of the story, I’m hoping that by writing a blog, I can give my readers more opportunity to get to know me a little better.

My channel’s latest evolution is in to the world of thrifty creations. My Foxy Makes series, aims to show how anyone can use scrap materials to create functional items without spending big money.

My first Foxy Make was a £50 kitchen trolley.  The trolley features in this blog. This series has created some amazing interest and I have so many more ideas to explore.

Foxy Makes isn’t only about DIY. It also involves creating and sharing recipes too, I guess cooking is the ultimate form of diy.

I have worked as a secondary school teacher, planning officer and in personal banking, but going self employed was the best thing I could have done. Blogging, making, and my Youtube channel are flexible pursuits that fit beautifully around my volunteering and paid work.

I delight in the feedback I receive on You tube, Instagram and through my new blog. I’m amazed and humbled by just how quickly my subscribers and followers are growing. People are interested in what I make and how I make it – that’s an incredible feeling.

It’s very early days, but I’m proud to have worked with several brands already and I’m super excited about what is to come.

ACCOLADES AND BRAND WORK:

  • I was a finalist in the Gorilla Glue UK – Craft Blogger Competition.
  • Collaborated on a project with ManoMano as part of British DIY week – Volcano Dowel Lamp
  • Collaborated with Evolution tools to produce my Halloween video- Frankenstein Halloween Head Candy Dispenser

So, if you are a brand looking to encourage people to have a go at DIY and making stuff, please contact me and I will be delighted to forward you my media pack. I really look forward to working with you.
